   In 1985, we began Journeys East, taking small groups of travelers hiking in the Japan Alps. Intrigued by the richness of Japan, we began developing other trips to explore aspects of the culture that excited our own imaginations. Adding new trips each year, but still keeping our groups small, we are committed to keeping our personal touch and involvement. Now in our 24th year as Journeys East, we still design, organize and run our own trips. This season we travel to Japan while continuing to seek out new possibilties there. Explore contemporary and traditional Japanese arts on our Brushes With Inner Japan trip. Experience Japanese folk architecture on our From Farmhouse To Teahouse itinerary, and enjoy the art of Japanese hospitality on our new Asian Havens (AH!) trip. With small groups, each limited to 16 participants or less and each led by two of our leaders, we specialize in a personalized, hands-on approach to traveling overseas—staying in traditional lodgings, enjoying the varied regional cuisine, spending time with the local people, and immersing ourselves in the best that the culture has to offer.
