   Our leaders — scholars, writers, musicians, folklorists — periodically take time off from their “day” jobs to lead trips for Journeys East. When they join us, they bring their unique visions and expertise to each trip and traveler. At Journeys East, we have been focusing on trip leadership since 1985. Our trips are intimate with two leaders and only 16 participants or less. We seek out leaders who not only understand the culture and have a connection and affinity for it, but just as importantly, leaders who have incredible “people” skills. Our leader “teams” make sure not only that all logistics behind the scenes are running perfectly, but that each and every participant is having the best possible time. Over the years we have created a stellar group of leaders who not only are bilingual, well informed about the culture and experts in fields as diverse as Minka restoration and the textile arts, but leaders who travel the “extra mile” to assure that everyone is having the ultimate Journeys East experience.
